About Course

Bring the magic of Romanian winter holidays to life and make language learning a festive adventure! This course is designed to teach seasonal vocabulary, traditional songs, and cultural customs in a warm, interactive environment that encourages students to speak, sing, and celebrate together.

Students explore key winter words like brad (Christmas tree), moș (old man – as in Moș Crăciun), cadou (gift), zăpadă(snow), and colindă (carol) using flashcards, storytelling, and repetition games. Lessons include carol-singing practice, learning about Moș Crăciun (Santa Claus), and discovering traditions like Plugușorul, Sorcova, and Capra, which are unique to Romanian New Year celebrations.

What Will You Learn?

  • Younger learners sing along with simple colinde while coloring and decorating paper trees. Older children play holiday bingo, write short wish lists, and learn to say what gifts they would like. Teens explore regional customs, read short cultural texts about winter foods (like cozonac and sarmale), and discuss how Romanians celebrate from Christmas through Epiphany.
  • Each session combines listening, speaking, and writing practice with games, crafts, and guided conversations. We finish with a review activity or short presentation so students can use their new vocabulary confidently in a fun, low-pressure setting.
